Introduction

Welcome to the Spring 2025 issue of Inward Light, our second in the re-awakening of the venerable FCRP journal that is an integral part of our “newly-hatched” FCRP Collaborative.

Our quarterly timing of the Inward Light is no coincidence: we follow the changing seasons. At the Spring Equinox, we pause in that brief moment of equilibrium when Earth’s alignment with the Sun gives both hemispheres daylight and darkness in perfect balance. Here in the North, we celebrate lengthening days and sense the energy accumulating in seeds sown prior, preparing to burst forth. So too, we at the FCRP Collaborative sense an enlivening that will manifest once again in May at the 83rd Friends Conference, where we’ll welcome the return of Tom Holmes as our keynote speaker.

In anticipation of that event, we feature in this issue a reflection by Tom Holmes on last year’s conference, his exploration of the nature of Self according to a variety of spiritual traditions, and his look forward to reconvening this year around the theme of “Embodying the Sacred Self.” To honor the accumulated energy generated at FCRP 2024, we also include personal reflections of participants highlighting their experiences of the gathering at Pendle Hill.

We hope you enjoy the diversity of this season’s contributions to Inward Light. We appreciate your interest and invite submissions; please check the guidelines and themes for upcoming issues.
